Last night at Phillips de Pury by Kelli

We had a great time last night at the Phillips de Pury party! I met the fabulous Marc Newson (previous posts on Marc) – pictures of me and marc coming soon 🙂 I also really enjoyed all the fabulous historic pieces up for auction on April 30th.  Here are some of my favorites:

And the star of the show – also the most expensive – Marc Newson’s Lockheed Lounge

DITA BY PEROU

DITA VON TEESE BY PEROU

Yesterday we had one of my favourite photographers here… the marvellous Perou, shooting a story for British Grazia on writers Jake Arnott and Stephanie Theobald. The story should be published in a couple of weeks (around the 5th of May), so go buy!! Perou has kindly agreed to exhibit some of his work here at 40 WiNKS later this year, so keep reading.

Get some Glam from Gwyneth’s Closet! by Kelli

Gwyneth Paltrow is clearing her closet and you have the opportunity to get your hands on some fantastic pieces… all benefiting the Robin Hood Foundation (charity providing support to homeless and battling against poverty in NYC)

goop-goopbadadoop

Check out her GOOP ebay store Find items from designers such as: Balenciaga, Burberry, Michael Kors, Helmut Lang and Marni, Prada and Chanel. My question is… if it’s benefiting a charity can we make our purchases tax write offs??
Happy Shopping!

Bedtime Story Nights at 40WiNKS in association with those frightfully nice people at Spokenink by David

blogpost1

“Yes!! Bedtime Story Nights – what a simply splendid idea!!” Carter was experiencing an explosion of emotions he hadn’t felt since that time he got to sit on Matron’s lap during the great measles epidemic back when he was still in his 2nd year at Worstwick Park. Nestling his head against her warm and ample bosom, he had followed the adventures of Tim, Ella and Gertrude and their battles against the evil Minipotions. A cracking yarn which all started when… Sorry, I digress. Bedtime Story Nights are starting at 40 WiNKS, and will no doubt bring back many equally happy memories for you all.

When:
Wednesday 3 June – “Love and Longing”
Wednesday 17 June – “Stories to Make you Dream”
Wednesday 1 July – “Love and Longing”
Wednesday 15 July – “Stories to Make You Dream”

Times:
7:00 – 10:00 PM

Drinks and nibbles will be served on arrival and during the interval with the first story starting when the small hand reaches 8.

Dress code:
Strictly pyjamas, nightgowns, dressing gowns and other ‘appropriate’ nightwear. We would also suggest you bring a small cushion and a hanky (in case you are moved to tears). Please feel free to bring hot water bottles, blankets (particularly those with the satin edging along the top) Teddy Bears and anything else that makes you feel warm and safe (not matron or nanny unless you are paying for them too).

Price:
£20 per person per night (includes wine and nibbles).

Where:
40 WiNKS
109 Mile End Road
London E1
(click on the contact page at www.40winks.org for treasure maps and misleading directions)

Booking:
Email reservations@40winks.org to confirm your booking and arrange payment.

VERY IMPORTANT!!
Numbers at all 40 WiNKS events are strictly limited as we want them to feel special and intimate. Please book early to avoid disappointment.

David had luminous chandelier ‘couturier’ Eva Menz around for a drink last night. Eva is an established star in the glittering world of bespoke (custom for my American readers) lighting, creating often innovative and breathtaking pieces in a range of unusual materials such as origami, pearl and even ice!!! Pieces range from £5,000 to £100,000. Eva has an outstanding portfolio that you must check out but here I picked my favorites to share. evamenze-copy

Unique and hard to find US designer brands in London by Kelli

Brian Reyes

Brian Reyes

I couldn’t resist! Thanks to this week’s issue of Drapers, I found OXYGEN in central London! The shop carries collections from about 20 US designers and other exclusive lines from all over. Two of my favorites are Brian Reyes (pictured above) and Doo.Ri (pictured below). It feels like shopping in NYC  so I suggest giving it a look next time you’re shopping in the Oxford Street area. Find it at 38 Eastcastle Street W1.

IS THIS THE FUTURE?

UNUSUALLY INTOXICATING...

Bompas and Parr specialise in creating strange and spectacular culinary events…. Their most ambitious project yet is “Alcoholic Architecture’, which takes place later this month in London. Not recommended for those of you with a serious drink problem, the show allows you to experience what it is like to be inside a giant cocktail, soaking up gin and tonic mist and rubbing shoulders with giant limes!! Refreshingly different, so check it out…

ALEXANDRA FARO – FASHION DESIGNER by David
SPRING/SUMMER 09 COLLECTION

SPRING/SUMMER 09 COLLECTION

Hungarian born fashion designer, Alexandra Faro, moved to London in 2004. After studying at the London College of Fashion she bravely decided to launch her own label. Alexandra popped over for a drink the other night to tell me about her new A/W collection, which all sounds rather fab and wonderful, but still very hush hush!!… Here in the UK, her designs are stocked exclusively by super cool ‘127 Brick Lane’, alongside the likes of Comme des Garcons and Maison Martin Margiela. Her previous collections there have all completely sold out, so if you are interested in getting something from her current S/S range, we would suggest you get down there sharpish!!

As a new girl in London, everyday is a new adventure. Last Sunday I visited the Columbia Road Flower Market for the first time… and of course, I LOVED IT! The scents, the people, the quirky shops… just fabulous. I plan to be a regular flower junkie from now on… but what to wear?! What do you think about my outfit for next week???

I fancy strolling through the market sporting this :)
