MORE CHAIRS ON ALACARTERSTYLE!
The multi-talented Pigalle Tavakkoli sent me this delightful picture at the weekend… snapped at a show she produced for the Chelsea Arts Club a couple of years ago as part of their annual fundraiser. The chairs were provided by Philippe Starck amongst others and then customised by artists such as Gavin Turk, Rolf Sachs and Sir Peter Blake. However, it does look as if the racy burlesque performance was attracting rather more attention than the chairs in this case, certainly from male members of the audience…. or am I mistaken??

SOMETIMES I WISH I WAS A CHAIR... HOUSE OF LOVE BY MARC ROGOFF

SOMETIMES I WISH I WAS A CHAIR... HOUSE OF LOVE BY MARC ROGOFF

I WISH I WAS A CHAIR…
Ignore the scantily clad model, ignore the dashingly handsome man at the window… just feast your eyes on the delicate lines of this seductively designed chair!! Since Kelli revealed her obsession, I have found myself strangely drawn to photographs of chairs. I now spend much of my spare time leafing through old copies of The World of Interiors in the hope of coming across some particularly attractive example. Sad but true.
The photograph is by the marvellous Marc Rogoff, and forms part of a series entitled ‘HOUSE OF LOVE’. More will be revealed soon.

FETISH CHAIRS FROM MUNNA DESIGN by David

SEATS WITH SEX APPEAL
Well… like many of you, I had no idea that the lovely Kelli was so hooked on chairs. As you can imagine, all sorts of questions have been running through my head since this obsession started leaking out on to the pages of alacarterstyle. Is she attracted to a shapely ‘leg’, or does she prefer a well upholstered ‘seat’? Is it healthy for someone her age to get so excited about something most of us just take for granted? What does she really get up to in the evenings? The list goes on…
However, I couldn’t resist including some examples of chairs from the fantastic Fetish Collection from Portuguese designers, Munna. They are showing in Milan this week, and very kindly invited me to a cocktail party tonight, which I am sadly unable to attend… I do like their work enormously though, and will certainly be using it on future design projects. I hope you enjoy it too.

Green Chairs by Jolyon Yates by Kelli

I was drawn to the Stingray Stool (by Jolyon Yates ) because of the organic and playful shape… I am pleased to find out that it is made almost entirely in renewable birch and all the adhesives used are selected to have a low environmental impact.
