Huub Ubbens is a wonderfully talented designer, a LOVELY person and a great teacher. I had the privilege to study under him at Scuola Politecnica di Design during my masters program and learned a great deal about furniture design. This chair, Kadrega, is one of the many great designs by Ubbens. Ubbens has worked with many world famous designers such as Michele de Lucchi. IM A FAN! 🙂

The creative women of Front designed this version of a Royal Delft vase to appear as though it was exposed to a gust of wind. The Blow Away vase is available from Moooi.

AARON R. THOMAS
PROOF THAT MODERN AND CLASSIC CAN SIT COMFORTABLY TOGETHER…
This chair by American designer Aaron R. Thomas is a playful homage to Philippe Starck’s classic ‘Ghost’ chair. Made in acrylic, it is called the ‘Deconstucted Louis Chair’ and costs $3,150 USD. I think it’s cool….

PERFECTLY DIVINE IN MY LOBBY...
I love mixing old with new and couldn’t resist including something on this pair of fantastic Venetian ‘Grotto’ chairs available from smart New York based dealers Newel. They are $37,500 USD, which personally I think is rather reasonable. Enjoy!

OBJECTS OF DESIRE...
MORE CHAIRS ON ALACARTERSTYLE!
The multi-talented Pigalle Tavakkoli sent me this delightful picture at the weekend… snapped at a show she produced for the Chelsea Arts Club a couple of years ago as part of their annual fundraiser. The chairs were provided by Philippe Starck amongst others and then customised by artists such as Gavin Turk, Rolf Sachs and Sir Peter Blake. However, it does look as if the racy burlesque performance was attracting rather more attention than the chairs in this case, certainly from male members of the audience…. or am I mistaken??
