AARON R. THOMAS
PROOF THAT MODERN AND CLASSIC CAN SIT COMFORTABLY TOGETHER…
This chair by American designer Aaron R. Thomas is a playful homage to Philippe Starck’s classic ‘Ghost’ chair. Made in acrylic, it is called the ‘Deconstucted Louis Chair’ and costs $3,150 USD. I think it’s cool….

MY CUSHION

CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN'S SHOES
A couple of people have pointed out the striking similarity between the antique embroidered cushion in my Marie Antoinette-inspired boudoir and Monsieur Louboutin’s fabulous yellow embroidered shoes. Surely such beautiful shoes should have an equally beautiful cushion on which to rest when not in use… I am looking forward to my complimentary pair from Maison Louboutin.

PERFECTLY DIVINE IN MY LOBBY...
I love mixing old with new and couldn’t resist including something on this pair of fantastic Venetian ‘Grotto’ chairs available from smart New York based dealers Newel. They are $37,500 USD, which personally I think is rather reasonable. Enjoy!

ARE YOU LOVING THESE AS MUCH AS ME?
FIT FOR A QUEEN
I was going to write something about the Marie Antoinette Boudoir here at 40 WiNKS when I came across this deliciously decadent story about shoe designer Christian Louboutin’s limited edition collection of Marie Antoinette-inspired shoes… They are a collaboration with embroiderer extraordinaire, Jean-Francois Lesage, and are selling for just under £4,000 a pair! I think they would look rather nice here at 40 WiNKS, and if any of our more affluent readers would care to donate a pair, I promise they will be treated with all the pomp they deserve.
We would love to hear from anyone who can find us some more expensive shoes to review….

I love hats!!! I have been collecting them for years, but it is often a rather solitary passion as there are so few opportunities to wear them in public. With the Stephen Jones show on at the V&A and wedding season about to start, perhaps I can persuade more of you to start exporing the infinite pleasures wearing a good hat offers. We are considering holding a few hat parties here at 40 WiNKS in the near future. I am attaching a couple of pictures of the glorious Isabella Blow, who certainly knew a thing or two about the subject, and also a stunning portrait by Irving Penn, which you can find at the upcoming sale at Phillips de Pury. I think hats are cool and sexy! If you think so too, get in touch….

IRVING PENN
I have just received an invitation through for another fantastic party at Phillips de Pury… they have an auction of Photographs coming up on the 16th of May here in London. Viewing starts on Saturday the 9th with a Reception from 5.00 to 8.00 PM. We can’t guarantee that Marc Newson will be there (sorry, Kelli!), but there will be work from some of my favourite photographers, including the likes of Paulo Roversi, Nick Knight, Robert Polidori and one by the lovely Mark Seliger of Heidi Klum as Jayne Mansfield (I mention this because I was actually photographed by Mark a year or so ago as Andy Warhol…!!). If you love photography as much as I do, make sure you get down there or check out their online catalogue for more information.
